Manuel Antonio Herping Night Tour (Reptiles and Amphibians)

it is rewarding and memorable to see a client experience the first close encounter with a large Fer-de-lance (Bothrops asper), a new world-class “Lifer” with a maximum of 6 people per group tour, we guarantee to provide detailed attention to all participants.
We will be sure to dedicate full time to searching and exploring the best areas, to ensure we find the species that make Costa Rica a great herpetology destination.
We suggest you contact us before the tour and share any specific goals or species requests you have in mind. We will prioritize any special requests first and then find the tour’s famous icons, such as the red-eyed tree frog (Agalychnis callidryas), the turnip-tailed gecko (Thecadactylus rapicauda), the granular glass frog (Cochranella granulosa), the eyelash viper. Designed to provide you more detailed and specific explanations about the fascinating herpetofauna found in the private nature trails and gardens of Hotel Playa Espadilla, whose main trail is located right next to the boundaries of Manuel Antonio National Park, divided by a seasonal creek that organically attracts amphibians and reptiles in the dry (January-April) and wet (May-December) season. After our safety talk, site management rules, and photography recommendations, we will begin the search for any specific request or evacuate any questions you may have in mind. Some of the main target species to find and photograph during the tour are snakes such as Fer-de-Lance Viper and Eye-Lash Pit Viper, Coral Snakes, and any Colubrid member such as Boas, Vine, Cat-eyed, Racers, and others. All frogs starting with the iconic Red-eyed Tree Frog, Masked Tree Frog, Gladiator and Milk Tree Frogs, or any other interesting herpetological species such as the Basilisk, Helmeted and Night lizards.
