Bhopal, the capital of the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh was the site of one of the world’s worst industrial disaster in 1984. Residents of Bhopal were exposed to the highly toxic Methyl Isocyanate gas as it leaked from the Union Carbide factory. Over 20,000 people are believed to have died and thousands more were left permanently disabled. Even today the after-effects are visible in the high incidence of chromosomal aberrations seen in the next generation. Visit the abandoned Union Carbide factory and the nearby affected sites to witness the dark side of industrial progress.

You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the abandoned factory of Union Carbide, the site of one of the worldu2019s worst industrial accident in living memory.nnIn the early morning of December 3, 1984, a moving breeze spread a toxic dark cloud over the city of Bhopal. The victims arrived at hospitals breathless and blind. The lungs, brain, eyes, muscles as well as gastrointestinal, neurological, reproductive and immune systems of the survivors were severely affected. When the sun rose the next morning the magnitude of the devastation was clear. Dead bodies of humans and animals blocked the streets, leaves turned black, and a smell of burning chili peppers lingered in the air. nAfter a tour of the abandoned Union Carbide factory, drive over to the u2018Remember Bhopalu2019 Museum. Also visit the Rehabilitation Centers that are trying to serve the citizens in an effort to make Bhopal a better place to live in.nnAfter the tour you will be driven back to your hotel.
